By Mary Ann Hoffman
Due to the popularity of our two previous Christmas exhibits, this year we’re presenting “Christmas in the 1960s.” You are invited to join us at the Fridley History Center to view and remember life 50 years ago. Experience the lifestyle of the 1960s through home fur-nishings, fashion, music, TV, and more. In addition, take part in trivia, a children’s craft, see our model railroad, and more. As always, admission is free and refreshments will be served.

Hours: Saturdays, November 8 through December 20 (11:00 AM to 3:00 PM) and Tuesdays, November 11 through December 16 (2:00 to 4:00 PM).

Minnesota Disasters: Stories of Strength and Survival
By Mary Ann Hoffman
A Minnesota Historical Society Traveling Exhibit detailing a series of Minnesota disasters will be on display in the upper level of the Fridley History Center beginning Saturday, October 25 and running through Saturday, January 24, 2015. Through the use of photographs, film, and interviews, disasters both manmade and natural are profiled, including the 1965 Fridley tornado. The exhibit will be on display during regular museum hours, including the days we are open for “Christmas in the 1960s” (see article on page 5.) Admission is free.
This exhibit is made possible by the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund through the vote of Minnesotans on November 4, 2008.
